CPR, AED, & First Aid

Who Should Take This Course: This course is designed to provide a working knowledge of CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation), AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use, and basic first aid to anyone with a requirement or desire to learn these lifesaving skills. Examples of activities where these skills are beneficial include outdoor sports and activities, teaching, child care, coaching, and construction. However, the material presented in this course is appropriate for the home or workplace.
What Will Be Taught: This course will provide instruction in adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and basic first aid. Hands-on skill stations will be conducted to teach and evaluate the student’s ability to demonstrate the necessary skills for certification. Topics that will be covered in this course include:
First Aid Provider—Legal Considerations
Recognizing an Emergency
Deciding to Help
Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
Primary & Secondary Assessments
Control of Bleeding*
Adult, child, and infant CPR, AED use, and choking
*A brief overview of tourniquets and hemostatic gauze will be presented during control of bleeding
What You Need to Bring: All student learning materials and equipment will be provided on the day of the course. Participants are encouraged but not required to bring their own equipment if they wish to facilitate discussion or have any questions. Snacks, drinks, and a bagged lunch should be brought as short breaks will be provided throughout the course. Drink and snack vending machines are available.
What Is Provided: A student pocket guide and certification card valid for two years will be provided upon successful completion of the course. Successful completion of the course is dependent upon the student’s ability to demonstrate the necessary skills without the assistance of the instructor. Students will have also access to online learning materials through an access code located on the back of their certification card.
Course Length: 5-6 hours (Large classes may run longer.)
Critical Response Training Associates is an ASHI (American Safety & Health Institute) authorized training center.
This course is typically at least 5-6 hours, but may run overtime. Please plan accordingly. A refridgerator and microwave is available.
